Lose your clothes and dance your ass off at the Icebreakers Ball

Here is a super opportunity to do something good, burn up the dance floor and party with some warm-hearted folks like you.

On this Friday Feb 24 The Fringe and Sunset Promotions and Mighty present the Icebreakers Ball

But first.

Please, Please. Pretty Please with sprinkles on top.
Before you arrive for a spectacular night out, do 2 minutes of spring-cleaning in your closet and throw some clean new and used clothing in a bag. Ya know the stuff that does not fit and the stuff ya have but don’t need but someone else can. Bring that bag and give it to “the Fringe” volunteers as you come in the door. Your donations will be distributed to the victims of Hurricane Katrina and the St. Anthony’s Foundation of SF. Celebrating life and cherishing every moment in this crazy world is great but imagine if you lost everything you owned. It is up to us to participate in creating some positive change in peoples lives cause your government ain't.

After you shed your extra layers, prepare yourself for a spectacular night of entertainment. The Mighty will transform into a winter wonderland to paying homage to the season in order to usher it into a warmer season of change.

Artist Information:

DJ Icey: (System Recordings, Zone Records, Essential Mix, FL): Known as the “King of the Funky Breaks,” Orlando native, DJ Icey, began his spinning career with a residency at the now defunct club, the Edge. Thought to be one of the hardest working DJs in America, Icey’s nonstop touring ethic gave him plenty of time to pioneer funky breaks and launch his remix-producer career. He also made history by convincing the then unknown Chemical Brothers to play their first U.S. show on July 4th, 1993, at the Edge. Sometimes packed with breakdancers, B-boys, Ravers, Club Kids, Suburban and even Inner-city kids, the dance floor is always an eclectic group, brought together by Icey’s unique flavor of breaks.

BLVD: San Francisco’s leading force for live house and breakbeat music is on fire, touring constantly up and down the West Coast. Drummer Dylan McIntosh surrounds himself with an array of acoustic and electronic drums, merging beats and samples to lay down an unwavering rhythmic foundation. Electric guitarist Curtis Sloane adds tight melodic riffs and looping patterns, as well as triggering programmed samples. Bassist Tripp Bains glues the sound together with a deep low end and fluid, pounding attack. This is a band to not miss out on. www.blvdtrio.com

Scratch n Sniff: Bringing the 4-turntable DJ team aesthetic into the breakbeat arena, Scratch n Sniff features British producer SJ Littlewood’s (sleevin.com) beats and Motion Potion’s acapellas, political speeches, instrumental fragments and effected wah-scratches. An attempt to make modern dance-music accessible to fans of funk, hip hop and live music, Scratch n Sniff adds an energy and serendipity rarely seen in the house/breaks arena. The two will celebrate the release of SJ Littlewood and B.Smiley’s new single “Secrets” at this event. www.motionpotion.com

DJ Mancub (Space Cowboys): From out of the SF underground comes the merger of the worlds of breakbeat and mashup, DJ Mancub of the Space Cowboys; who has become a local legend for his ability to add rock and funk to electronic beats. Mancub recently placed #10 in SF on Nitevibe.com’s prestigious “dream team” poll. www.spacecowboys.org

DJ Syd Grys: Syd Gris, promoter / DJ / and psychologist, is the man behind many projects pushing dance music forward in San Francisco and beyond. He founded Opel Productions and the Opulent Temple (at Burning Man) to combine his love of the SF underground vibe and the desire to reach people beyond that underground with a message of social justice, awareness, and a diverse range of kick ass DJ's. As such, he has hosted luminaries like Tiesto, Lee Coombs, Paul Oakenfold, Hybrid, Sandra Collins, Tipper, and many others. Playing a combination of mainly progressive and breaks, his sets are meant to capture and create an emotional moment to fit the occasion. So whether it's opening up for Hybrid or Oakenfold at Burning Man, or sharing a Love Parade float with Hyper and Evil 9, his passion for the scene he's helped foster and the music always translates right to the dance floor.

Mycho Cocoa (the Fringe/Lighter Knights): In his relatively short time as a DJ, Mycho Cocoa has already garnered a superb reputation as a top beat slinger in styles as diverse as Arabic breaks, and soulful house. He is a member of the Fringe Collective and the Lighter Knights. www.lighterknights.com

Victor Vega (the Fringe/Lighter Knights): Like the rest of the Fringe DJ’s Victor’s tastes run the gamut, but the NYC native is best known for his sexy smooth mix of Latin house and breakbeats. www.lighterknights.com

Big Dolla Bill a.k.a. Billete (the Fringe): a scholar of old-school hip-hop and archivist of fresh freakinstein creations from the world of mash-ups,. BDB plays a bumping mix of old and new beats infused with funk, rock, pop and hip-hop. His twisted sense of dance music is freakishly fun. www.fringecamp.com

Vau de Vire Society: The Vau de Vire Society was spawned from the depths of San Francisco’s thriving Dance and Circus sub-cultures. With Performers ranging from former Cirque du Soleil Aerial Acrobats to the most enticing go-go dancers, Vau de Vire is a Live, choreographed explosion of all that is beautifully talented. The group will be invading the venue and riling up the environs during the show. www.vaudeviresociety.com/about...x.html

Kaia (the Fringe): Beginning with homegrown imagery, Kaia has evolved her visual palette with STS9, Anon Salon, Moontribe, Traveling Corn, and other independent productions.

The Fringe: Proceeds from this event go to support “The Fringe” : an arts collective that supports bringing live and evolutionary entertainment to Burning man 2006 and beyond. For more info contact us at www.Fringecamp.com or talk with us at thefringe.tribe.net
